I am a professional private tutor with 26 years' experience in teaching adults and children in the United States and Europe. I have trained Washington D.C. diplomats, worked for Open University Business School (U.K.), the University of Texas. Moreover, I have worked as a simultaneous interpreter, translator of American novels, and private tutor since 1992. Currently I teach English, French, Italian, and Classical Arts at a private school in Grapevine, TX.
My personalized courses differ significantly from other tutors' methods because I was trained in the U.S. and Europe in philology, child psychology, Orton-Gillingham method, and specialized linguistics. Primarily I teach English (SAT, ACT, ESL, etc), Italian, and French. I earned a Master of Arts degree with coursework at Georgetown University and George Washington University, Washington D.C., specializing in European studies/ International business; and a BA degree in foreign languages and cultures/English, French, and Italian. Additionally, I studied at The Italian Center (Naples, Italy), France Language (Nice, France); and in Quebec City, Canada. I've been a U.S. citizen for the past 18 years; prior to moving to the USA, I lived in Naples - Italy, and I grew up speaking French in my family.
ENGLISH Immersion Courses SAT ACT TOEFL GRE ESL Creative Writing Literary and Business Translation
The English courses cover grammar training for college preparation: Reading Comprehension, Speaking, Presentations, Vocabulary, Writing, Cultural studies, Pronunciation improvement, etc. All classes are personalized and may include professional English for executives, as well as a large number of sources including TV, Media, business, cultural studies, all humanities, and international affairs. Field trips may also be organized as well as immersion activities according to students' needs.
FRENCH Immersion courses and ITALIAN Immersion courses
My method emulates the language training usually offered in diplomatic schools and similar to governmental ILR testing for U.S. diplomats. An immersion program typically involves shortcuts to grammatical comprehension, in-depth analysis through media articles, movies, TV, literature, and online study. We use specially-structured charts and memorisation approaches and genuine TV sources and literature in French or Italian to ensure proper linguistic and cultural immersion between and after lessons.

Over the past 2 years I designed a course addressing the needs of ADD/ADHD-diagnosed children which has proven very effective. It employs a European method based on international child-psychology studies and immersion study materials. Kids have enjoyed their training with me and made radical progress. You may wish to try this intensive immersion teaching method before deciding to medicate your child -- perhaps medication is not at all necessary in his / her case. ADHD courses are offered to students aged 5-15. Below is one of my recent success stories about the (actually brilliant) son of an Aikido instructor:
"My 9-year-old son... was on an ADHD medicine since his public school recommended he be medicated, and the local doctors supported this with the prescription. Upon the very first class, Gabriela ran some educational tests and assessed my son who disclosed his frustrations, ambitions, his favorite school subjects. From that moment on, my son has not been taking the ADHD medicine. His mother and I have done years of research and have experimented with diet and discipline to manage his behavior, however we experienced more growth in him after we started Gabriela's program where he is making great advancements in both his English and French as well as in his self-control and manners and his behavior. I am genuinely thrilled to have my son enrolled in this intensive European-method program." --Jon from Coppell, TX.
Fees for ADHD courses differ based on case study and program provided.
