My name is Cortney C. and I am very excited to have the opportunity to work with you as my student! I began my journey in music at 15 when I was appointed the Children's Music Minister for my church in Grapevine, TX. My program consisted of children age 2 - 13 and I prepared monthly music concerts as well as large musical productions twice a year. I remained in this position until I graduated college from Texas Woman's University in 2003, with my Bachelor of Arts in Science Majoring in Music Education. Also when I was in High School and through college as well I also worked at several after school programs creating curriculum and tutoring school aged children. I graduated from Colleyville Heritage High School in 2000 and in high school and middle school as well I was a member of top performing Varsity Choirs, Show Choirs, Woman's Choirs, as well as studied Individual Private Music Lessons throughout. I received awards such as Superior Rating Solo's, Judge's Outstanding Performance as a soloist, and was as a group received numerous Superior Ratings, Best Overall Choir, Best overall competition Choir at UIL contest, festival contest all over the United States, as well as was apart of the 1999-2000 Panther Chorus to be invited to Germany and Austria to perform. In College I became proficient in Music Theory, Aural Skills and Training, Music History, Individual Vocal Training, Elementary General Music Concepts including instruments, recorders, introduction to note value, name, rhythm, beat, measure, timing, introduction to composition as well as many others. After Graduating from Texas Woman's University I became an Assistant Middle School Choral Director as well as a Private Voice Instructor where I remained for two years. My students participated in UIL Solo Contests where a large majority of them received Superior Ratings, Judge's Outstanding Solo Performer, District Choirs, Region Choirs, State Choirs, and even had several students who would perform at local music contests such as Johnny High, Billy Bobs, and even a few land record recording contracts. From there I began teaching elementary music and was honored to be apart of the inaugural year of Bette Perot Elementary School and established a successful music curriculum and program, an after school choral program of 100+ students, and was on the District Elementary Music Curriculum Writing Team. Following 5 years Bette Perot I returned to Middle School at Keller Middle School as the Assistant Choral Director where I was in charge of all Non-varsity Choral Groups and was the Production Manager of the Theater Arts and Music Club PAC that performed Disney Jr Musicals. I have written and received several Education Grants, was a Member of the Texas State Music Textbook Adoption Committee, as well as part of several End of Course Music Writing Teams. Following KMS I accepted the position at Carter Riverside High School as the Head Choral Director. I was able to rebuild the choral program from 19 students in the entire program to over 300! In addition to music I have become proficient in photography and capturing live and natural moments to capture the atmosphere and emotions in the photo to not just be a "picture" but a time stamp of one of many of life's moments to cherish. I also turn these photographs into scrapbooks of a persons story of their lives! For the past year I have spent my most of my time tutoring elementary and middle school academic subjects including math, science and history. In anything and everything I teach I implement individual growth plans with catered concepts and strategies to obtain each persons most successful potential outcome! I strive to not only teach each concept, method, or strategy but have the student be able to implement and perform them to best ability successfully! I look forward to working with you developing and making each of you goals a reality and dreams come true!
