I believe that education is important, not only because it provides the means of achieving a good career, but it also provides us with a way of bettering ourselves and our mind to be a good person and live the good life. Because of this, education has been a way of life for me, both personally and career-wise.
As far as my teaching philosophy
is concerned, I strongly believe that every student can achieve great heights, but each student may differ in what methods work best for the student to learn. I think that enthusiasm for the subject and a genuine dedication to finding the best method of helping the student discover a new concept or idea. There is always a way. Learning should be enjoyable, even when the topic is hard. We can have fun while learning something new, or get great joy when it all suddenly clicks.
In closing, I would like to draw on a quote by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe:
"Treat a man as he is and he will remain as he is. Treat a man as he can and should be, and he will become as he can and should be."
I believe that we can surprise ourselves sometimes with what we can do, and when we treat students as having great potential, they will rise to the occasion with our support and our faith in them.
