Hello, my name is Trent, and I'm a certified teacher in the area of Special Education and Math. I have been a teacher for 15 years, having taught all grade levels in Special Education, Math (7th grade), and I even taught High School Spanish for 4 years!
Presently, I'm employed through the Andrews Center, and I work with at-risk youth and their families in Van Zandt and Wood Counties. I listen to both kids and parents and offer unbiased suggestions and recommendations for conflict resolution. I have been doing this for the past 2 years, and I have found it to be professionally rewarding. It's wonderful when one of my clients is able to solve their own dilemma because of a good choice/decision that they make. The sole responsibility is on the student, not the teacher/tutor.
My theory on education is very similar. I would hope to introduce youngsters to opportunities/experiences that are new, exciting, and relevant to help make their own lives better. The teacher/tutor can lead and guide students, but in the end, it's the student's responsibility to make wise choices in how they deal with their situations/circumstances.
I have much experience in working with children and have a wide knowledge base in several core academic subjects. I very much look forward to working with students and their families.
