Hi! My name is Susan. It's nice to meet you. Before I retired, I taught for 16 years in grades 1st through 5th in the United States and overseas. I spent several years in 3rd grade teaching Reading and Math to English Language Learners and ESL students and helping them prepare for the TAKS, now STAAR, test. I also taught 4th grade Writing and 5th grade Science. In my classes I used many different teaching methods and tried anything that would help motivate students to learn--from traditional approaches to puppets and rock music. Everyone learns in a different way. In a classroom full of students it's often hard to find what works for a particular student. That's why I love tutoring! It's wonderful to watch someone who was struggling become successful and self-confident. I can't wait to meet you and your child so we can get started.
