Yamid is excited in promoting the health and wellness of the art of dance through latin style dancing to the world with Mari Tomey. It is his passion and dedication that will help him share his vision with his students and peers.
Yamid P. was born in Bogota, Colombia. He traveled back and forth from his brith country to the United States from 1996 to 1999. In the year of 2005 his family decided to make the permanent change to the states and choose Texas to call their new home. Since Yamid was about 5 years old, his mother always told him that dancing salsa was a natural thing for him; Yamid would listen to the music and move as the instruments told him. He graduated from North Mesquite High School in May of 2007 and from there began dancing socially out in the scene. It was not until January 2011 that he decided to take dance more seriously and went back to basics with Katie Mambos team (Mambo Dallas) in January 11 th , 2011. Their first performance was at Baylor Salsa Invasion of 2011 where he performed the team's season show. His love and passion for dance grew quickly as it was always inspired through salsa dancing which originally was Cali Style from Colombia. In Texas he learned On1 and On2 dancing with top teacher who helped shape the intuitive and perfectionist dancer who Yamid is today. He became one of the best On2 Salsa dancer in both leading and following that DFW has! From his first performance came a lot more opportunities to perform and to join events. From these are the Semeneya's 12 th Annyversary in San Antonio, TX, Baylor Salsa Invasion of 2012 in Waco, TX, TV show in Dominican Republic, Te Estan Facturando 2011, Texas Salsa Congress 2011, Lone Star Salsa Festival 2011, Planet 16 (Dallas, TX), Houston Salsa Congress, Dallas Salsa Congress and Punta Cana Salsa Congress among many more. Yamid began assisting teaching Salsa On2 in different placed with Mambo Dallas group classes in the Fall of 2011. From there he learned the essentials a teacher should have in order to properly teach students the art of dance. His featured choreography now is Esa Mujer in collaboration with Sonia Juarez for the Dallas DIVAS Bootcamp 2012 and Agua Que Va Caer in collaboration with Mari Tomey dancing together as Y&M for their first season in 2012.
