I welcome exceptional students of all ages. I specialize in elementary through middle school Reading/English language arts. I have 16 years of experience in special education teaching resource, content mastery and tutoring small groups. I mainly taught the core areas (reading, English, spelling, writing and math), but also taught some science and social studies from K to 6th grade.

I am here to help and all my focus and talent will be offered to my students, along with much creativity and innovation coinciding with my years of experience and level of education (M.S. in Reading from Texas A & M Commerce). Please allow me to put my skills and experience to work with you!

Elementary (K-6th)

I taught elementary content mastery and resource with inclusion for 15 years. This last year, I taught RTI (response to intervention) where I worked with students to increase their productivity and took data to determine whether they needed further intervention, including but not limited to special education.

Phonics

I have taught Reading resource, supplemented general education instruction with content mastery and inclusion in language arts, and taught a variety of specific programs throughout the years.

Study Skills

I taught many students with special needs for the last 16 years. My coworkers and I taught study and organizational skills informally but consistently. I helped students be successful in school every day.

Special Needs

I'm certified to teach special education students with a variety of disabilities including dyslexia, learning disabilities across the board, attention deficit, developmental delays, autism spectrum, etc. I have taught students with disabilities for 16 years in the state of Texas.

ESL/ESOL

I have ESL supplemental certification in the state of Texas.

ADD/ADHD

I have worked in special ed with a variety of disabilities. I've worked with hundreds of students identified with ADD/ADHD. Additionally, my own son has it. I am a certified special ed teacher in the state of Texas.

Aspergers

I worked as a self-contained teacher of students with autism and Aspergers for a year. Prior to that, I had students in my content mastery classroom who were identified as autistic.

Autism

I worked with the autistic spectrum throughout my career as a special educator. I have many techniques at my disposal to work with you or your child.

Dyslexia

In a previous school district, I worked with dyslexic students using the SRA and MTA programs. I sat in on a number of meetings in which we identified students with dyslexia as a committee based on their diagnostic results.
