Hi, my name is Jesi. My students call me "Mr. Jesi". I am currently a Spanish and Art teacher at a private school in Galveston, Texas. I am an avid learner myself. I enjoy working with all ages. I teach K-6, but I am also an adjunct instructor at Galveston Community College where I have had the opportunity to instruct students ranging from high school students to seniors. My students enjoy my style of teaching/instruction that is low-pressure, patient and usually amusing!
I have studied several languages and speak two: Spanish and French along with a smattering of others. I enjoy grammar and teaching the importance of it in learning a new language. Understanding the grammar of a language opens the door to the whole language much more than simple phrase memorization.
I have been a Mac user for the past 30 years! My first computer was a Mac and I have a love of this operating system that I would like to share with you! The Mac OS can seem intimidating, but it is truly the most user friendly OS available today. When I began using Macs back in the early 80's, I started with the Betas of two new programs: Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. I have used them along with the suites of other Adobe products ever since. Adobe Creative Suite (CS) allows desktop publishers, designers and video producers to create professional digital works right on their desktop with its many fully integrated applications.
I do not teach crafts. I teach my students about art; its rich history that reaches from the stone age (neolithic) to the contemporary and pop artists of our modern culture. I, myself, have worked as a graphic designer for more than 30 years in the commercial sign industry and have also worked as an independent artist in several types of media. I have won several awards for my own private work. I may not use every medium in my private work, but I am familiar with most of them.
