K - 8th. First of all, I like helping people. When my contributions make a difference in someone's life I feel rewarded. I am patient but I am focused and not easily distracted from the ultimate goal (which is really your goal). Success is achieved by dedication to reaching all the little goals along the way. One goal at a time makes the overall goal seem much more doable and less stressful. Learning can be fun and one on one tutoring helps remove the fear of failure so a person can relax and allow the creative thinking processes to work. As studies show everyone has a different learning style and once identified learning can definitely take place. Mutual respect is a necessary ingredient because as I teach I always discover or learn something I can appreciate from others.

I have a BA from Ashford University in Sociology/Psychology and I am a member of the Alpha Sigma Lambda Honor Society at Ashford University and the Golden Key International Honor Society. I am strong in reading, writing, grammar, phonics, spelling, literature, history, and basic math.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Bible Studies

I attended church every Sunday and Wednesday for over 25 years. I taught various ages in Sunday school for many years as well. I have attended numerous Bible study groups.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have experience teaching ages k - 6th. I taught summer classes at a private day school, and also for 2 years, I was a housemother of ages ranging from 5 to 17 and tutored them as necessary. I also have 2 grandchildren - one in kindergarten and one in first grade in Chandler so I am familiar with the methods and curriculum of East Valley schools.

Microsoft Outlook

I am proficient with Microsoft Outlook because I have used it in my jobs for more than 20 years. I use email but more valuable to me is the ability to set appointments in the calendar and receive a reminder. I also send invitations through Outlook to remind others of scheduled events.

Sociology

I majored in Sociology as a result of a change of my major from Business Management to Sociology and felt it was a great decision because I truly enjoyed learning about the influences and behavior of people in different geographical, socioeconomic, and environmental settings. I loved it and made A's in these classes. I can easily teach this subject because I have passion for it.
