I am a former business school professor with a PhD in management science and additional degrees in mathematics and computer science. I provide personal tutoring to students from middle school through college levels - in many math and business subjects. I have received teaching awards at UTD, USC and IMD in Lausanne, Switzerland and have a passion for teaching and impacting students' lives.
I have been able to help 1,000’s of students transform their current performance into their true potential by clearly communicating individual purpose, focus and discipline.
In addition to math for students of all ages, I specialize in adult education/coaching in business subjects from operations management to business strategy. I also provide Lean Six-Sigma Black Belt training and focused preparation for SAT, ACT, ASVAB and other exams. Lastly, I routinely coach entrepreneurs and provide business plan support and development.
I offer sessions and learning programs throughout the week and on weekends that are customized to exceed your expectations. I am more than happy to flex my schedule to meet specific learning/development needs.
The ACT math test requires you to answer 60 questions in 60 minutes or less. To be successful you need both math knowledge and reasoning skills. This can be much easier if you: master a few testing strategies; have the ability to recognize a dozen common types of problems given on every ACT; and are comfortable with basic algebra and geometry concepts. I focus on these three areas in each tutoring session I deliver.
As a math major in college and a management science PhD student, I can attest to the importance of mastering basic Algebra. It is one of the most important foundations you can build for both your education and professional life later. I have tutored numerous students in Algebra. More importantly, I have applied it to all types of every day problems and decisions so I am able to illustrate its value and application to both beginning and advanced students.
I have tutored numerous students in Algebra 2. More importantly, I have applied it to all types of everyday problems and decisions so I am able to illustrate its value and application to both beginning and advanced students.
As a math major in college and a management science PhD student, I can attest to the importance of mastering Algebra 2. It is a foundation for geometry, calculus, linear algebra, mathematical programming and many computer science courses. It is also very useful in preparing for SAT/ACT/GRE/GMAT and other standardized exams.
I have very successful experience tutoring students for many of the standardized exams, including the ASVAB, SAT, ACT and others.
My second youngest is a lieutenant in the Army having aced the ASVAB a few years ago.
The ASVAB Math and English sections do not contain complex concepts. They test basic arithmetic knowledge and reasoning along with reading comprehension which are all fairly straightforward to learn and gain competence in. The other sections (mechanical, electronics, etc.) test a practical understanding of basic everyday concepts which can also be mastered with a the right preparation.
With a PhD in Management Science/Operations Management I have taught/tutored undergraduate and graduate business students for 25 years. I have received Outstanding Teaching Awards at UTD and USC and have been consistently ranked in the top 10% of all teaching faculty. With hands on business and consulting experience, I am able to emphasize the practical applications of business theory within business itself.
As a Professor of Management for 25 years, I have taught/tutored 1,000's of students and personally mentored and aided 100's in there career development. I have helped place up to 10 former students annually in first or second jobs after their academic program completion. With an extensive network of executives both locally and internationally, I am consistently reviewing student resumes and corporate needs for to match qualified employees.
With 25 years' experience as a University professor and administrator I have worked with thousands of undergraduate and graduate students. I have taught at half a dozen different universities and am familiar with a 100 more. I understand the different cultures and requirements various universities possess and am adept at counseling students regarding their collegiate choices.
Having taught geometry in college and tutored numerous other students personally in geometry, I am very comfortable with the concepts and principles that are most important in learning it.
More importantly, I have applied it to practical problems and everyday decisions, so I am able to illustrate its value and application to both beginning and advanced students.
As a math major in college and a management science PhD, I can attest to the importance of mastering Geometry. It is a foundation course for both higher math and science education. It is also very useful in several quantitative business and economics courses.
As an undergraduate Math Major, I was introduced to Linear Algebra and was able to grasp the theory involved. Its practical application became clear later as "solving simultaneous equations" represented the core concept in mathematical programming courses and management science itself.
I have tutored and taught numerous students in Linear Algebra and have the theoretical and practical experience to communicate and apply its key concepts successfully.

The SAT math test requires you to answer 54 questions in 70 minutes or less. To be successful you need both math knowledge and reasoning skills.
This can be much easier if you:
1-master a few testing strategies;
2-have the ability to recognize four general types of problems given on every SAT;
•(20% -- 25%) Numbers and Operations: Integers, Fractions, Ratios, Percents ...
•(35% -- 40%) Algebra and Functions: Solving Expressions, Function Graphs ...
•(25% -- 30%) Geometry: Lines, Slopes, Circles, Triangles, Rectangles, Solids ...
•(10% -- 15%) Data, Stats, and Probability: Averages, Medians, Charts, Tables ...
3- and are comfortable with basic algebra and geometry concepts. I focus on these three areas in each tutoring session I deliver.
Did you know that Math Sat questions go in order from easiest to hardest, so on the 25-minute multiple choice, numbers 1 through 6 or 8 will be easy, the middle ones will be a little harder, and numbers 15ish through 20 will be the hardest. We'll come back to how you can use that to your advantage in a moment. The grid-ins are treated separately than the multiple choice, so on that section, 1-3 are easy, 4-6 are medium, 7-8 are hard, and then number 9 (the first grid-in) will be easy again, and so on through the end of the section. This leads to a specific testing strategy that will IMPROVE YOUR SCORES WHETHER YOU SPEND TIME PREPARING FOR THE TEST OR NOT!
I offer up to 30% discounts for students who double up with a friend in any of my Mastering SAT Programs - 4 week, 8 week, and 12 week schedules.
I have tutored a number of students in SAT reading, each showing measurable improvement in test scores. I teach students how to improve reading comprehension in a timed environment and the specific questions/answer choices to look for. I also prepare students extensively in SAT vocabulary and how they can expect it to be used during the test.
I have written and published over 100 books, articles and business cases and have tutored many students in SAT writing, increasing test scores significantly.
I teach how to select writing topics that SAT graders are looking for, how to organize and develop a winning essay as well as the sentence structure and syntax needed to excel at the test.
I have been a student/teacher my entire life. Spending 10 years to acquire a bachelor's degree in mathematics, a master's degree in quantitative methods and a doctorate in management science I was compelled to develop superior study skills.
I have taught/tutored and coached 1,000's of students from middle school through PhD students and understand and can communicate the key skills required to master a specific topic/class. I focus on general strategies that apply to virtually every learning situation and specifically help to:
-Prepare students to be independent learners.
-Enable students to be make good decisions, and think critically.
-Improve standardized test scores, avoiding common “exit ramps” on the path to learning.
-Prepare students for the globally competitive job market.
Specific study skills I focus on include:
Studying for Tests
Communicating with Teachers & Parents
Writing Research Papers
