Hello Everyone!

My name is Mariana M. I am very excited to have found this website and am very eager to help mold some of out future artists. My objective is to tutor the youth of today with the knowledge and love that I have for art. I am seeking the opportunities to work as an illustrator/animator while continually challenging my artistic abilities.

Academically, I completed my undergrad career at Columbia College Chicago with a concentration in Traditional Animation back in 2009. While I was there, I was taught several skills, programs, techniques... all of which have helped me tremendously in my professional career. These programs include: Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, Flash, Edge Animate, In-Design), Sony Vegas Platinum, Toon Boom Opus, Amadeus Pro, Audacity, iMovie, iDVD, Sencha Animator, Tumult Hype, as well as Sketchbook Pro.

I have a very positive and professional attitude, excellent written and verbal communication skills (fluent in Portuguese and some Spanish as well). Also, I do have an extensive fine arts background with graphic arts expertise with the ability to learn new programs effectively and efficiently.

Work wise, I am currently an Animator/Illustrator/Creative Lead with a children's eBook company, based out of Austin, called Chungaboo. I've helped in the illustrations and animations of several apps that have been created as well as an eBook (in the works of the second). I also am working as an associate with JC Penney corporate office, in Plano, as an Animator/Motion Artist. There I've helped in the creation of banners, transitions, animated welcome pages, and emails. To top it off, I still make time to work doing freelance on the side. My freelance jobs so far have mostly been illustrations with animation mixed in.

Thank you all for your time and consideration. I hope to hear from you soon!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Adobe Flash

I learned how to use Flash in college. Later on, I got a job as an animator with JCP corporate and did their online animation work for about three years. I still use Flash today for my own animation purposes.

Drawing

I completed my bachelor's in traditional animation. I have taken several life drawing courses, animation drawing courses, etc. Also, I currently teach a friend's daughter how to draw.

Painting

I took several art classes in high school as well as college. All of which used different mediums like paint, charcoal, prisma-colors, clay sculpting, etc. I currently do my own paintings for fun.
