Hi, my name is Margaret and I am a very experienced tutor that wants nothing more than to see each of my student's confidence and knowledge grow!
I personally know how it feels to struggle in school; I was a struggling reader and vividly remember that feeling of hesitation and fear of being 'called on' by the teacher to read out loud. This is what lead to the motivation to become a tutor. (in fact, in 7th grade I wrote in my journal to my SS teacher that I hated to read aloud and she never called on me to read ~ loved her!)
I have over 14 years of tutoring experience. I love to teach reading
(and now you know why!) and love to share 'the secrets'...I mean who doesn't love super heroes, right??
I love all learning but also have a passion to teach math
is probably my favorite, followed shortly by geometry
. I love all levels of math, though! (I never struggled in math...it always came easily) I enjoy trig
too but haven't had time to brush up on it.) This past spring, I lead the STAAR Math Tutorial Series at a local Jr. High.
I consider myself VERY fortunate to have met some AMAZING students and parents! I am thankful everyday that I am able to do what I LOVE.
I have had some very hard working students with great success:
~ Student qualified for 'advanced math' this year (skipped a year of math)
~ Student earned the highest grade in her math class!
~ Reading Student made the Honor Roll for the first time ever!
~ Student achieved 99%tile for Reading on the Nationally Ranked ITBS (IOWA)test!
~ Student achieved 'Advanced' on the STAAR test each year!
~ Student received the DUKE TIP letter!
~ Student reached top 5% in Mathematics
~ Student passed STAAR (5th grade
~ FAILED TWICE BEFORE,only had 1 more attempt & needed to pass to move to 6th grade
Thank you for looking at my profile. I would love to help your child succeed, too!
