William’s qualifications in specific subjects below.
ASVAB
My certification in a wide variety of subjects, (i.e. math, sciences, English, history, mechanical engineering, etc.), has enabled me to tutor for tests such as the ACT, SAT, GED, GRE, etc. I have a good understanding of the content of the ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery), and can provide the tutoring necessary to understand the fundamentals and test taking strategies required to help successfully pass the exam.
Botany
My background in biology came from AP biology in high school, and biology courses in college. I also studied and experienced biological and environmental topics in the field for many years as a boy scout and a boy scout merit badge counselor. I am qualified to tutor in the field of plants, including botany.
Discrete Math
My experience in discrete math covers the arrangements of objects in order, the counting principle, decision charts, permutations, reflections, combinations, sets, integers, graphing, and trees. I have tutored in the field of discrete probability and discrete statistics at the college level.
Ecology
My interest in the relationship between plants, animals, and their environments started when I was a young boy scout, and continued to grow through my education in biology classes such as AP biology in high school, and biology courses in my first year of college (prior to UNL). I have had a long term interest in ecology for years, as I studied and experienced biological and environmental topics in the field as a boy scout, and as an older boy scout merit badge counselor. Soil and water conservation, ecosystems, fish and wildlife management, and recycling are just some of the my areas of interest.
Genetics
My background in biology came from AP biology in high school, and biology courses in college. I also studied and experienced biological and environmental topics in the field for many years as a boy scout and a boy scout merit badge counselor. I recently tutored a student in biology, with the focus primarily on genetics; and believe that I am qualified to tutor in the field of genetics.
Mechanical Engineering
I have a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, and have passed the FE/EIT to show competency in mechanical engineering subjects. I am available to help tutor in some core mechanical engineer subjects such as: Fluid Mechanics, Measurements, Corrosion, Metallurgy, Statics, Dynamics, and Mechanics of Materials.
Probability
Having an education including statistics and probability, and having tutored in statistics and probability, I am available to tutor in probability as a single subject.
Study Skills
Studying can be productive and exciting, if you know how to approach the subject matter, interpret the source of instruction, and apply supportive materials. I have learned different ways to study during my years of schooling, on my way to my completed B.S. in mechanical engineering. I can provide ideas and approaches to help grasp concepts and overcome stumbling blocks. I also know how and where to find supportive information, providing additional ways to understand.
TEAS
I am experienced in the test subjects of algebra, geometry, trigonometry, fundamental math, probability and statistics, biology, anatomy, chemistry, physics, English, reading, writing, grammar, punctuation, and related advanced topics in math and sciences. I am certified to tutor in the SAT, ACT, GRE, GED, ASVAB, and other tests having similar topics. My most recent test tutoring has occurred in the SAT, ACT, and ASVAB. I am qualified to tutor in the TEAS (Test of Essential Academic Skills).
Track & Field
I have been an avid runner since 1993, completing numerous competitive distances, ranging from 5K(3.1 miles) to 50 miles. I can assist with helping set up an individual's training program, their selection of the proper gear, and their range of a variety of routes, distances and goals.
Zoology
My background in the science and study of animals came from several sources: My biological education came from AP biology in high school, and from biology courses in my first year of college (prior to UNL); and my general study and experience came over many years in biological and environmental topics in the field as a boy scout, and again as a much older boy scout merit badge counselor.
