I currently work at the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History as an Educational Facilitator. I taught 3rd grade Science and Writing full time with Fort Worth ISD for the 2013-2014 school year. I substituted in FWISD for the 2012-2013 school year. I am highly qualified to teach as an ESL Generalist EC-6th grade and in Special Education EC-12th grade. I was a nanny for 9 years for four children and tutored all of them. Two of those children suffered from learning disabilities (speech/ADHD). I have a Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas. I graduated magna cum laude. I also have a Master's degree in History from American Public University in Charlestown, W. Virginia. I have 9 years experience teaching continuing education classes to adults. Besides having a solid education in the Liberal Arts, I have taken college level Anatomy & Physiology, Biology, Botany and Geology. I am also a Licensed Massage Therapy Continuing Education Provider in the State of Texas and was required to take a 30 hour course titled Teaching Adult Learners. It is always a great idea to prepare your child for the upcoming school year by introducing grade/age appropriate concepts during the summer prior to starting school. Give your child a head start and help them retain what they've learned the previous year while learning new concepts that will keep them ahead of the game.

I always recommend that parents print out a book list for the grade level their child will be entering the next school year. Just Google something like "8th grade book list" or "4th grade reading list". Let your child choose two or three with the goal of finishing them by the end of the summer or pick a few for them that are good candidates to be read at school (ie. Lord... read more

Excellent first session — Lisa made a great first impression with my grandson and me. She is very upbeat, encouraging and kept my grandson engaged for the entire lesson. She has great communication skills and was very encouraging to my grandson. I was most impressed that she brought extra reading and review material for the upcoming STARR testing without my asking. I will definitely be using her again. She even had a st ...
