I am passionate about learning and I feel it is necessary to learn about the student(s) in order to learn how I can provide them with the successful learning resources. Everyone has a unique learning style and I feel it is a priority to cater to the individual learning styles.

I have over 20 years teaching, tutoring and mentoring students from diversified backgrounds and appreciate the opportunity to contribute to academic and social success. I have the natural ability to develop a relaxed yet disciplined and respectful relationship with students I have come in contact with.

I have taught students computers (ages 2- adult) and I have tutored/taught all grade levels in basic academic subjects. I have also taught remedial math at a local junior college.

I was trained as an alternative learning instructor and I strive for the reward of witnessing the students' progress and self esteem increase.

I have a great sense of humor and I believe learning can be fun and beneficial to everyone. I am a disciplined teacher however I have very creative and unique methods of teaching that can be understood without getting bogged down in technical jargon.

My former students and clients are informed at the initial contact session that I am committed to explaining lessons as many times as necessary...whether it is one time or 10 times...whatever it takes to help the student succeed.

I did not post availability hours. I believe individual learning styles also pertain to the time of day a student best absorbs information. I strive to schedule tutoring sessions based on the students' schedules.

If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Sewing

I have been sewing since the age of 8. Though my mother taught me to sew, I took formal classes at 11 and in high school. I have made my father several suits that are very similar to his retail designer suits, and he always gets compliments when he wears them. I've made flower girl and bride's maids dresses. I've also made cheerleading skirts for various sized girls (a total of 18!). I made 75% of a customer's tropical shirt collection, featured in the Star Telegram several years ago. I have many years of teaching experience (both in academic and sewing) and I am very patient, encouraging and positive!

Study Skills

I have 15 years experience with tutoring, alternative education and the gift to successfully assess learning styles. I tailor sessions to fit the student's learning styles by utilizing their strong study skills or academic knowledge to customize a successful program for the student.
