I have taught for 30 years - all grades except Kindergarten. I have Reading Specialist, Special Education, and ESL certifications. I enjoy all subjects. I tutor using the books the student uses in their classroom. I try and get the student to do the work in their way of learning - be it a visual learner, a "hands on" learner, or an oral learner. I do this by talking with the student and asking them why they think they are having difficulty in the subject. Then, I like to look at their work samples. I usually assign a bit of homework just so they can know what to expect the next time.
