I invest students and their potential for exceptional success, and I relish tracking and supporting the progress of individual students to help each reach his or her full potential.
As a current Fort Worth ISD AVID Tutor I 1) teach strategic note-taking skills, 2) facilitate student-led discussion of subject matter, 3) require upper-level thinking and questioning, 4) model using notes and other resources for research, and 5) guide students in applying their learning in real world contexts.
As a former 11th-12th Grade AP English Teacher, I trained students in college level writing, research, and literary analysis. During my years in classroom teaching, I excelled as a coach, advisor, and advocate of students, evidenced by my reception of Everman High School’s Most Dedicated Teacher, the senior-selected Bell Award, and Most Inspiring Teacher. Years of lesson planning, lecturing, and grading have all sharpened my ability to effectively diagnose and then remedy problem areas for students. I have an intimate knowledge of the rigors literary analysis and writing skills of an upper level English Language Arts class as well the organization and creativity to implement a plan for individual student success.
