PhD Student Prepared to Tutor Multiple Subjects

I have eight years' teaching experience in public schools, indicating my knowledge regarding diverse learners. This experience coupled with PhD coursework in curriculum and instruction make me a viable candidate for any tutoring situation. However, my minor is in elementary education and I have most experience with young children. I am enthusiastic and energetic and willing to prepare tutoring lessons that are effective, data-driven and engaging. I have access to collegiate library material and live in the TCU area. Elementary (K-6th)

I am a certified public education teacher in grades EC through 8. I have passed all state exams and am more than competent to tutor students in these grades.

Phonics

As a pre-kindergarten and kindergarten teacher, I am skilled in teaching beginning readers. I understand the importance of phonological awareness and have a wealth of materials geared toward teaching phonics. I am also a certified public Texas teacher and have passed the exam to teach EC through grade 8.

Study Skills

Currently a full-time teacher and a full-time PhD student, I have a great deal of experience in organization and study skill. I have a 4.0 grade point average and am successful at managing time and priorities. I feel I am more than competent at tutoring study skills. Further, I took multiple (required) study skills classes as an athlete (undergrad).

Track & Field

I received the Wendy's High School Heisman Award due to my participation in track and field. I received a full athletic scholarship to Oklahoma State University and after graduating early, continued participating in track and field at Texas Christian University. I love the sport and enjoy teaching others technique!
