For the last 15 years, I have worked in the corporate world. However, recently, I have changed gears and decided to go back to my first love - education. Please don't think that I am weak on tutoring - for the while working in the corporate setting, I was often responsible for teaching/mentoring co-workers will all kinds of skills and information, from public speaking and safety to PowerPoint and Excel.
As I have shared my decision to change careers, one friend and family member after another told me they thought that "I would make an excellent teacher;" but it wasn't until I started performing my coursework-required student observations that I knew for a fact I had made the right decision to make the change.
I am currently enrolled at the University of North Texas, College of Education in a "Post-Bac" program, and am working on my certification. I have now completed this program, and after receiving certification from the state of Texas (expected certification date: July 2013), I will be a certified ESL/Generalist EC-6 educator (English as a Second Language, Early Childhood - 6th grade).
With a small child of my own (shown in my profile picture), educating tomorrow's leaders today, has become a passion of mine. Let me help your child find the joys in learning, boost their self-confidence, and ultimately raise not only their test scores, but their love for school.
