This year marks my 41st year of teaching Spanish and English in the classroom, and I still enjoy the satisfied feeling of seeing the light come on in a student's eyes when understanding dawns. I have experience in teaching both subjects in grades 7-12, and I have even taught World Literature at the college level. In addition, I have tutored students who were having problems with Spanish or English in their high school or college courses.
Tutoring one student at a time is a process of determining how much a student already knows and of going forward from that point. In tutoring a student for Spanish, I start with simple patterns to fill in any gaps the student has in background knowledge. I basically teach by using a step-by-step approach filled with patterns and helpful tricks to remember how to conjugate verbs in the different tenses, how to study vocabulary, and how to understand the reading and answering of questions. I use the same approach for tutoring English grammar and find that results have always been positive. I do have a strong background in English literature and writing as well as in English and Spanish grammar.
