"An effective & enjoyable phonics, reading, and math tutor"

I have been an elementary teacher at Hill School of FW (for learning differences) for 16 years, building students' self confidence, teaching them to learn to read fluently and improve comprehension. I believe phonics is a crucial skill in learning to read.

I worked at the Texas Boys Choir for four years prior, teaching Language Arts and math. I have 90 hours of Language Therapy training and Special Ed. certification. I am a compassionate & friendly, yet firm educator with an excellent track record of helping students find success in reading & math. Most of my students see positive results in as little as six to nine weeks' time. I know having good rapport with students promotes self-esteem & learning!

Reading

I have 90 hours of Language therapy training and Sp. Ed certification, which includes phonics, fluency, and comprehension training. I have taught reading to students with learning differences for the last 18 years.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have taught elementary Language Arts, spelling, and reading for 16 years at Hill School (4th & 2nd grades). I have an excellent knowledge of grammar, phonics, and reading comprehension. I have taken 90 hours of Language Therapy, and I am Special Ed certified.

Phonics

I have 90 hours of Language Therapy training, and phonics was a big part of what I learned. I believe in a multisensory approach to learning phonics, which I've taught for many years. Phonics is essential to reading success.

Dyslexia

I am Special Ed certified, having had much training in how to help students with Dyslexia learn to read and spell more fluently. I taught for 16 years at Hill School, a cutting edge school specializing in learning differences. I have attended many workshops on Dyslexia and related disorders. I feel that I am the right tutor for Dyslexic students.

Social Studies

I have taught 4th grade Texas history and 2nd grade Social Studies for 16 years at Hill School. I was raised in the Panhandle, and was taught about Quanah Parker, other Native Americans, and the Alamo by my dad, a history buff, from an early age. I have attended many workshops on Social Studies and I love Texas history. I have expertise in this field.
