I have experience in teaching pre-K through adult level classes. My passion is continuing to enhance my Japanese skills. I particularly enjoy teaching love of all things Japanese to young children.

I have taught English as a Second Language in Japan to elementary and middle school students, as well as adults. I have extensive experience in creating curriculum for K-5. I love languages, and to learn about other cultures, and I believe that immersion in second language and cultural awareness should begin in elementary school. I excelled in English in school, and worked for 3 years in Japan as an English teacher, teaching all levels and age groups.

Japanese

I first went to Osaka, Japan, as a summer exchange student with Youth For Understanding. I then returned home and studied 2 years of Japanese at Paschal High School. I was lucky enough to be in the inaugural class. World History

We can understand ourselves and our world more fully when we examine world history. I can help build foundation in this area, and open up a world of possibilities for your student. We are becoming more and more interdependent. We must understand how our decisions in America affect the rest of the world, and vice-versa.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have 5 years experience teaching K-6 students. I enjoy designing curriculum in fun, interactive ways to enhance learning, and increase confidence. My areas of specialty are Japanese and Social Studies and Reading. I have passed the state exam, TeXes, and am considered to be highly qualified to teach K-4.

Phonics

The state of Texas considers me highly qualified to teach K-4 reading. I have a track record of helping students improve their phonemic awareness, and double their words read per minute within a short period of time.

Swimming

I have been an avid swimmer my entire life. I was a member of 2 teams in high school, and earned the right to represent my state as a member of 2 national teams. I especially enjoy teaching beginners and assisting them in alleviating their fear of the water. I believe everyone should learn to swim.

Special Needs

I myself have a slight physical disability, Cerebral Palsy. My experience has helped me to gain special insight and ability to teach those who may need extra time to grasp concepts. Those with any type of disability deserve to be respected & encouraged just as anyone else.

ESL/ESOL

I have 3 years of extensive experience teaching elementary and middle school-aged students English in Japan. I wrote curriculum, prepared lessons, and evaluated abilities to determine the best course for future success for each student.

Autism

I am currently working with autistic students for an outreach program for Easter Seals. I am implementing established therapies in students' homes. I have experience with high functioning students.

Social Studies

I have a BA in Political Science and a great love of social studies. I have spent my life studying languages, and living abroad, in a quest to better understand the world we live in. I believe it is extremely important to study and attempt to understand other cultures.

If you do not use the entire package, we will simply deduct what you did spend on tutoring from your original purchase price and give you a refund. Discount packages start as low as $190.
