Hello,
I love teaching Art to people of all ages! My name is Malone and I am an Art instructor with over twenty-five years of experience teaching diverse forms of Visual Arts techniques, methods, and subjects to children and adults. I relocated to Fort Worth, Texas from the metropolitan Washington, D.C. area where for many years I served as a certified Art teacher in the public, private, and parochial school sectors. I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, Magna Cum Laude, from the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, Maryland. I hold a Master of Fine Arts degree in Painting, with the Honor of Distinction, from the American University in Washington, D.C. where I attended on a full scholarship. I also earned my Graduate Diploma from the world famous Joe Kubert School of Cartoon and Graphic Art, Inc. which is located in Dover, New Jersey. And, I am very proud to have received international recognition when I was given the 2001 Outstanding Graduate Award from the Art Instruction Schools in Minneapolis, Minnesota. While my personal art work is traditionally realistic and representational, I appreciate and am fluent in all styles and schools of artistic expression. Until my relocation to Texas, I taught for a number of years as an Art instructor at the prestigious Art League School of Alexandria (VA) and at the renowned VisArts of Rockville, Maryland. At both schools, I taught Drawing, Painting, Figure Drawing and Anatomy, Sculpture, and Cartooning to students of all ages. I have taught Art in a number of community centers and have volunteered at assisted living facilities. Over the years, I have also been commissioned by my adult students, as well as by the parents of my younger students to teach privately. In addition to being an Art instructor, I am a full-time self-employed professional Illustrator and Fine Artist. As an Illustrator, I create covers for books, graphic design, and I have created cartoon art work for companies such as Marvel and DC Comics. My work has received numerous awards including one from the Society of Illustrators in New York. As a Fine Artist, I am a commissioned portrait painter and I also create personal art work for gallery representation which consists of a wide range of subject matter. Shortly after my arrival in Texas, I accepted a position as an Adjunct Art Professor with the Tarrant County College District where I proudly taught drawing and painting courses from Spring semester 2010 until Spring semester 2013. While there, my students received top honors and awards in every one of the yearly Tarrant County College N.W. Campus Student Art Exhibitions. I am also very proud that I have a proven and successful record of teaching Art that not only enables my students to become technically proficient and self expressive, but allows them to enjoy the learning process, as well. I have been a tutor for WyzAnt for some time now and this has been a wonderful learning experience for my students and truly one of the most rewarding experiences of my life! I will be happy to share with you examples of my art work, credentials, personal recommendations, or to forward to you any specific information regarding my teaching approaches. Thank you!
Sincerely,
Malone
