Illustrator is for graphics. It's for designing simple logos, creating small promotional items, and laying out a postcard or business card. I use Illustrator whenever possible. I find it to be the easiest of the Adobe programs to use and navigate, as well as learn. In most cases Illustrator can get the job done, get it done well and with ease, which is important in all industries. I will not lie, there are times when Photoshop or InDesign will be needed, but if you're looking for a program that does most of your design needs, then Illustrator is the one. I personally use it for screen printing designs, business card designs, website graphics, promotional post cards and flyers.
The ultimate software for all types of photographers. Lightroom will import, organize, develop, export and manage your photos. It is like Photoshop and Bridge put together, but easier and more user friendly. It offers many things Photoshop and Bridge do not and will almost force you into a workflow that will help you in the long run.
Photoshop is a wonderful program that can take your images to higher levels of altering and composting or Photoshop can be a very useful tool for straight photographers, those just looking for color, exposure, or other slight changes in their images. Reducing red in skin tone, whitening teeth, or any beautification technique can be mastered using Photoshop. If you're a more abstract artists looking for ways to combine cool effects with vector art and text, this program is also for you. I happen to enjoy all forms of that arts with Photoshop. Sometimes I fix wedding images, sprucing up the bride a bit, sometimes I'm taking out objects that wont sell a house well, or fixing the lighting situation to help out those family photos. But I also love to work with the effects, making things look brighter, color penciled in, written on, distressed, old timey, etc. We can composite several photos together, fix a closed eye or simply make the grass greener. Whatever your need, Photoshop is capable and I can make sure that you are too. Not only can you learn how to do all these things, but I'll teach you how to non-destructively and show you many ways to go about it - either with the menu bar or through short cuts. We can learn as much as you want, at the pace you are comfortable with.
After receiving my Masters in Digital Photography from the School of Visual Arts in NYC, I moved back to Texas to continue my need to photograph the great outdoors. I specialize in digital photography, and love to help those in need of an intro lesson to their camera, or those who need more of an advanced lesson in lighting, color balancing, flash photography or portfolio help. My personal portfolio includes images from East Texas, the land, and its activities. I also travel quite a bit and seem to find myself creating mini portfolios of gardens and hotel decorations. From macro nature photography, to landscape, family portraits, and event photography I can assist you in learning everything about your camera, and the photography you wish to take. Its about a marriage between knowing your camera, understanding light, and choosing the right settings at the right time to capture your moment. I created my own online portfolio, have had several Gallery shows and teach at UTA. I can pretty much solve any photography problem you have, from camera, to computer to print and portfolio.
