I've always had a passion for math
, and I enjoy helping others learn and work through challenges. My favorite subject to teach is Algebra
1 and 2. I am currently pursuing my teaching certification through the UTeach Dallas program, which includes both intense coursework and student teaching in math classrooms. I am very patient and easy-going, and can adapt to a variety of learning styles. In tutoring math, I walk through problems systematically and reinforce the fundamental concepts that the student can apply to similar problems. I prefer regular sessions so that I can observe a student's learning style and adapt accordingly. I believe it is important to build a relationship with the student first because they say "no one cares how much you know until they know how much you care." I have always worked very hard in my courses, and I expect my students to do the same.
I graduated from The University of Texas at Dallas with a Bachelor of Science
and a specialization in Statistics
in May 2014. My cumulative undergrad GPA was 3.80. I completed advanced math courses in high school, culminating with AP Calculus
and AP Statistics
. I achieved a 5 on the AP Calculus
BC exam and a 4 on the AP Statistics exam. During my time in college, I completed various upper level courses in math including Multivariable Calculus, Linear Algebra
, Differential Equations
, Theoretical Concepts of Calculus, Abstract Algebra, Mathematical Analysis, Probability
, Stochastic Processes, Numerical Analysis, and Complex Variables. I have tutored my younger siblings and friends in math for years, and I love seeing others succeed.
A little more about me: I have lived in Houston, Dallas, and Charlotte, NC. My parents homeschooled me from pre-K through the seventh grade. Then I attended public school at Downing Middle School and Marcus High School in Flower Mound, TX. For many years, I taught children's Sunday school at my church. I played the flute
competitively for 6 years and now enjoy it as a hobby.
Note: I am currently student teaching Algebra 2
at Marcus High School, so I don't have much availability for taking on private students until May, but please never hesitate to send me an email
