Dallas Seminary (Master's)
My name is Sarah, and I'll be honest: growing up, I did NOT love school (and especially homework). Sorry, but it's true. I totally understand how hard it can be to focus, and how pointless homework seems sometimes. But I also know that education is crucial for success--both from an employment perspective and a personal/social perspective. I'll never regret going to a top college and getting a masters degree. I'm a more well-rounded, successful, and confident person today because I received a quality education. In fact, I consider myself a life-long learner; and now, I don't learn because I have to, but because I want to!
My goal is to help students of all ages change the way they approach their education. If that means we need to battle feelings of failure and low self-esteem caused by high pressure school environments and this culture's obsession with grades, then we'll do it. If it means we need to restructure a student's homework routine so assignments are completed more effectively, then we'll do it. If it means going over every single homework assignment, question by question, then we'll do it. If it means grabbing a cup of coffee, taking our work outside, and enjoying some fresh air, we'll do it.
When I'm with a student, I want to know THAT student. There's no one-size-fits-all approach to learning and development. I'm all about finding out what a particular student's struggles are and creating a tutoring relationship and program that fits that specific student's needs. Basically...I want to get to know you. I want to have fun. I want us BOTH to learn. You matter to me, and so does your education.
I'd love to meet you!

One of the ways I love to serve families is to be flexible to your schedules. I realize this is a busy culture and sometimes we'll need to miss a session. That's totally understandable. I do, however, ask for a 24-hour cancellation notice, as I depend on the a certain number of tutoring hours each week for my income. After much consideration, I have decided to charge a 50% fee for cancellations made within the 24-hour limit. (In the name of fairness, if I need to cancel within 24 hours for a reason other than an emergency, I will give a 50% discount for your next 1-hour lesson.) :) Of course, there is grace for emergencies, so this will not apply to extreme situations. And because I so value your child's progress, I am always available to make up lessons so we don't fall behind. Thank you so much for understanding. I LOVE serving you and your students!! Hi there!

Sarah is patient, kind, and very attentive to my sons Jack and Harrison. Very detailed as to what their needs are. I am super impressed!
Sarah first tutored my daughter to help improve her SAT scores. The tutoring sessions were a fun learning experience but structured and informative. My daughter and Sarah worked really well together, and she increased her scores by 70 points on both her reading and writing on her next SAT.
Sarah went above and beyond our expectations as a tutor to help my daughter with her writing and reading skills. In addition to helping with improving her SAT scores, Sarah has continued to work with her, helping her to write well constructed college Essays.
Overall it has been a fun, informative, and achieved the objectives of both Mother and Daughter.
Sarah is reading the same book my son is reading for school so that she can help him with his comprehension. It was not something I asked her to do, she just told us she would read along with her own copy! Very impressed!
We have used Ms. Sarah for several months now to develop our son's skills in reading and writing. We are very pleased with our choice. She is always organized, patient, caring, prepared, and understanding. Our child is now a 7th grader with ADD and Sarah has worked really well with our son and we feel she has brought the best out of him. He doesn't want to go all the time, but when he attends, he always enjoys his tutoring sessions. Ms. Sarah has also been really good at communicating and designing a learning plan for our son. We plan to continue our relationship with Sarah and she comes with high recommendations from our family.
Thank you, Sarah. You are always a bright light to my daughter's day! You not only have helped her, tremendously, with geometry, you have shown her patience and friendship. You are an absolute blessing. Please stay with us next semester for chemistry- we hear it's a very tough class!!!
Very attentive to my sons needs. We are going to continue every week for the rest of the school year at least. Thank you very much.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a Master of Arts in Christian Education from Dallas Theological Seminary, where I was required to take courses that, when accumulated, covered every single book of the Bible. I also have a minor in Bible from Wheaton College. I currently serve at my church as a youth leader, where I teach about the Bible on a weekly basis.
And I read it every day.
I have 6 years of experience in elementary tutoring. I also have a Master of Arts in Christian Education, which has allowed me to learn how best to instruct children of all ages. Plus--I love kids!
I have spent many years speaking in public; in fact, part of my job today involves public speaking on a regular basis. I have taken public speaking classes both on an undergraduate and graduate level and feel confident that I am proficient in this skill.
I have six years' experience in tutoring and being a life-coach for students who struggle with study skills. I thrive on organization and goal-setting, and believe that with the right set of study skills, a student can improve in performance tremendously. I have a graduate degree in education.
