My tutoring style may seem simple, but it works! I start by learning where you are at, then finding where you need to go, and then together we build a bridge to get you there. It's not just about learning facts and figures, but understanding WHY those things matter. We'll also work on skills to help you be more successful in dealing with future challenges.
My background: I was perennially a top achiever in school. I'm qualified as a member of MENSA (high IQ group). My academic credentials include a Bachelor's degree and an MBA. I've been a manager for many years, and part of what I enjoy about that role is the chance to help others develop and grow their careers. I believe that by building those around you, you also build yourself.
In school, I was often chosen to help coach other students who were struggling with the material. In business, I was chosen by my employer to teach finance skills to our largest group of customers. Later, I directed a turnaround of an under performing team by educating the team members on how to be successful. That teaching effort resulted in promotions for a significant portion of my staff. It's all about applying the knowledge and growing from it.
Another area of strength for me is writing. I am very disciplined in grammar, punctuation and structure. For those of you who may need general proofreading, I am available for that as well.
Although I can teach to all age groups, I am best suited to those who have a grasp of the basics. Therefore, I would prefer to teach those age 10 and up.
I'm very adaptive to a wide variety of learning styles, and can work with you to find the one that will help you reach your goals. Let's get started!
