Much of my background is creative. I started playing piano at the age of four, and began playing publicly at the age of twelve. My B.S. is in Music Theory, with an emphasis on composition and piano performance; my minor was in behavioral psychology.
Life happens - the next period of my life was a mix of mothering, being a pianist for churches, clubs and other events, and I began making tuned wind chimes. Being a crafter involved working with the public, and attending various arts and crafts shows and fairs.
With the children grown, my interests returned to further learning, and I returned to school in 2006. I have been taking classes nonstop ever since; I received my M.S. in Counseling Psychology from Capella in 2009, and am currently pursuing my PhD in Health Psychology with Walden University.
Independently, I have researched and begun making pro-biotic and gluten free foods; I have a large garden in which I maintain organic principles, and I volunteer at the community garden here in Brown County, Texas. I also do presentations for the Master Gardener group; in June, I will present an educational workshop on herbal teas using local plants for common complaints, and in September, I will again present my popular workshop on how to grow sprouts year round.
I am committed to life long learning, and hope to instill the seeds of such love in all of my students!
