Dear Prospective Client/Student;

I would like to take a moment to share with you a little about myself. I bring over 20 years of industry experience to my Business classes at Eastfield Community College in Mesquite, TX and, naturally, to the tutoring sessions as well. After leaving the Printed Circuit Board, Telecommunications, and Food and Beverage industries, where I used my BS degree in Chemical Engineering from MIT quite extensively, I elected to further my education. I decided to attend Baylor University's Hankamer School of Business to pursue my Master in Business Administration degree. It is because of this degree that I am now able to work in the educational field as a Professor of Business. I am also being tapped on the shoulder to work in a Business Development capacity in Eastfield's Continuing Education division in conjunction with my teaching duties. This being said, you can surmise that I am a huge proponent of education. I feel that knowledge and faith are the only things in life that cannot be taken away from us.

I thirst for knowledge and make every effort to expand my horizons in various industries and disciplines. As such my service offering with respect to tutoring subjects is vast. With this in mind, my approach to tutoring is very simple. I listen to my students and "read between the lines" as they attempt to communicate with me their perceived weaknesses. More often than not, the student simply lacks the self-confidence needed to overcome his/her minor academic deficiencies. Keep in mind that no one walks into a classroom KNOWING the subject matter on day one. We all start on the same page - PAGE 1 - and must first learn the fundamentals of the subject matter. Once we build the strong foundation, we can "finish out the building." As I alluded, I first assess the student's learning style and cater lessons/instruction accordingly. I am bilingual in English and Spanish.

As I mentioned, I work in Mesquite, but I live in DeSoto, TX, where my 11 year old son is an A student in a private school. I spent several years working as a substitute teacher on a part time basis (while studying for my MBA) at his school primarily in the 7-12 grade classes teaching Personal Finance, World History, Spanish, and Math Applications. I am qualified to tutor various subjects, so please take a close look at the ever-growing list of services I provide.

I am eager to work with you or your child to help you regain self-confidence and to approach learning with zeal rather than trepidation. SUCCESS IS WITHIN YOUR REACH.

Business

My qualifications for tutoring in Business include the fact that I have spent 20 years in corporate America in positions ranging from entry level Process Engineer in the manufacturing environment straight out of college to Vice President of Operations and Engineering in the Telecommunications sector. As Senior Manager over Equipment Engineering at Pizza Hut (headquarters), I worked side by side with suppliers negotiating contracts, corrective actions, and sharing equipment design ideas to improve equipment serviceability in the field. I also led several cross functional teams to address larger issues within the company.

My latest career (Aug. 2011 - present) as an educator in the community college setting has provided a fulfilling venue to give back to my community and help young people to reach their career and personal goals. My classes are Introduction to Business, Principles of Management, Principles of Marketing, and Personal Finance. I instruct in both the classroom and the online settings.

My degrees include a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from MIT and a Master in Business Administration degree from Baylor University's Hankamer School of Business.

Career Development

As Senior Manager over Equipment Engineering at Pizza Hut (headquarters), I identified a young Pizza Hut delivery driver to recruit as an Engineering Technician for my team. Six years later he is advancing to the level of Associate Scientist. I have a keen sense for identifying talents in individuals and actually take the time to coach and mentor them.

I taught a class in Portfolio Development, which involved all aspects of preparing for the job search after graduation.

My latest career (Aug. 2011 - present) as an educator in the community college setting has provided a fulfilling venue to give back to my community and help young people to reach their professional and personal goals.

Since 1990, I have served as an MIT Educational Counselor. As such I interview and counsel prospective students (as part of the application process) desiring to attend MIT.

My degrees include a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from MIT and a Master in Business Administration degree from Baylor University's Hankamer School of Business.

Chemical Engineering

My qualifications for tutoring in Chemical Engineering include the fact that I have spent 20 years in corporate America - 12 of which were as a Process Engineer in the Printed Circuit Board manufacturing environment. In this capacity, I used the plethora of problem solving skills and practical applications I learned at MIT to lead entire departments to more efficient operations.

Computer Engineering

My qualifications for tutoring in Computer Engineering include the fact that I have spent 20 years in corporate America - seven of which were as an Operations and Engineering manager in the Telecommunications sector.

Working as a grunt in this new industry, I helped finish out our new building to accomodate our telephone and networking needs throughout our 8000 sq. ft. production and administrative faciility. We ran both DC and AC power. The former was for our product-testing requirements. I oversaw all cable installation between our production test stations and our power supplies (rectifiers).

My degrees include a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from MIT and a Master in Business Administration degee from Baylor University's Hankamer School of Business.

Computer Science

My qualifications for tutoring in Computer Science include the fact that I have spent 7 years as an Operations and Engineering manager in the Telecommunications sector.

In this role, my team and I designed and manufactured computer servers for telecom softswitch technology. We assembled all systems from the ground up, after receiving piece parts from our cable, power supply, sheet metal, and component parts suppliers. We tested all computer hardware. I was directly responsible for HiPot testing as well as NEBS, FCC-B, CSA, and TUV certificaitons for all of our products.

My degrees include a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from MIT and a Master in Business Administration degee from Baylor University's Hankamer School of Business.

Electrical Engineering

My qualifications for tutoring in Electrical Engineering include the fact that I have spent 7 years as an Operations and Engineering manager in the Telecommunications sector.

In this role, my team and I designed and manufactured computer servers for telecom softswitch technology. Ours were custom-built computer servers that we sold for an average price of $45,000 each. I worked closely with my electical engineers particularly in the trouble-shooting and debugging phase of our operations.

Because of my ability to interpret electrical schematic drawings, I was able to identify many problems over the years. Most ultimately turned out to be power-to-ground shorts, but other problems included design issues that had been overlooked.

My degrees include a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from MIT and a Master in Business Administration degee from Baylor University's Hankamer School of Business.

Mechanical Engineering

My qualifications for tutoring in Mechanical Engineering include the fact that I have spent 7 years as an Operations and Engineering manager in the Telecommunications sector. This was a new career for me, but my MIT education was beneficial in my transition. In this capacity, I used the plethora of problem solving skills and practical applications I learned at MIT to use my transitional skills to adapt to my new environment. Of course, I had an excellent teacher as well.

In this role, my team and I designed and manufactured computer servers for telecom softswitch technology. We conferred with our clients, designed equipment to their specifications, qualified the equipment, and stood behind our products. In the beginning (as a small company), we made our own cable assemblies and used off-the-shelf products to assemble our systems. In the later years I managed suppliers who custom-built our sheet metal, cable assemblies, and power supplies. Our systems were UNIX- and LINUX-based. We used Sun Microsystems motherboard, CPU, and memory components.

My degrees include a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from MIT and a Master in Business Administration degee from Baylor University's Hankamer School of Business.

Microsoft Outlook

I have been working in industry since 1987 and have used Microsoft Office products extensively throughout my engineering career. Outlook has been the means of electronic communication, task management, contact management, etc.

Organic Chemistry

My undergraduate degree is in Chemical Engineering from MIT and I absolutely loved the Organic Chemistry course. My practical experience with chemical processes extended into the electrolytic and electroless plating processes for a span of 12 years in the manufacturing industry.

Public Speaking

My qualifications for tutoring in Public Speaking include the fact that I have spent 20 years in corporate America. I had to regularly support my proposals to staff, customers, and now, students. Of course, there were always presentations to upper management and various administrative staff.

I typically present to 15-30 students at a time.

My degrees include a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from MIT and a Master in Business Administration degree from Baylor University's Hankamer School of Business.

Trigonometry

I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering, so math and science are second nature to me. Trigonometry is fundamental in our lives.

Vocabulary

I am an educator at the college level. Both my technical and business degrees require professional communication skills, so grammar and spelling are crucial.

I use word association techniques and phonetics to tutor my 11 year old son and my students. I try to raise the bar for all my students so that they are challenged daily to learn new words and their appropriate uses.
