I am a graduate from the University of North Texas in painting and drawing. I am a professional practicing artist and an assistant and instructor for a museum's education department in the DFW area. I also have over 4 years of experience teaching various subjects to children and adults. Although my work is primarily in oil paint, I am well versed in all types of paint and its mediums, sculpture, printmaking, and more.

I love the technical aspects of making art but I am heavily invested in the current art world and its history. I would love to teach the basic aspects of art making to any age group and can incorporate art history and theory to lessons if wanted. I am well versed in the VTS (Visual Thinking Strategies) teaching method which helps develop writing and communication skills as well.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Drawing

I am a graduate from the University of North Texas in Drawing and Painting. After graduating with this degree, I have established a career as a practicing artist and exhibit in various exhibitions and galleries. Through my degree, I had multiple years of drawing experience with still life, figures, "in plein air", with multiple reference materials, and through pure imagination. I can teach perspective, composition, color theory, blending, and anything else with every dry medium imaginable (charcoal, soft pastel, color pencil, graphite, etc.). While tutoring, I will reflect with students on how to effectively execute these methods, explore how contemporary and historical art figures have done the same, provide constructive feedback and explore whatever further art avenues desired.

Painting

After graduating with this degree, I have established a career as a practicing artist and exhibit in various exhibitions and galleries. I love painting and have many years of experience painting realistically and abstractly. I am well versed in various technical painting methods with acrylic, oil, and watercolor such as: glazing, layering, blending, color theory, mixing, and more. While tutoring, I will reflect with students on how to effectively execute these methods, explore how contemporary and historical art figures have done the same, provide constructive feedback and explore whatever further art avenues desired.
