As my title states I really have a heart for helping others and have the desire to share the knowledge I have gained with others.
Math - Has always been one of my strongest subjects. I was placed in Advanced Math classes from 7th grade up to my senior year in High School in which I took AP Calculus. I have tutored elementary school students in math, but am open to teaching other levels as well. Algebra and word problems are my specialties. I thoroughly enjoy working with numbers, which is what drew me to working in the financial services industry for 7 years.
ESL - I have served as an English conversation partner for the English institute at my university for two years. I met with students twice a week to help them practice using English and to provide them additional insight into American Culture. Living overseas in 2010 and 2011 were the best experiences of my life thus far. I loved learning about other cultures and sharing a little bit about my own culture. As a native English speaker, I am often complimented on my speaking abilities and professionalism, as my grandmother was an English teacher and I was forced to speak proper English. In terms of education I completed my bachelor’s degree December of 2012 and am currently in the process of finishing a 120-hr TEFL teaching certification and hope to gain more experience teaching English as a foreign language.
Spanish- I have taken Spanish lessons from 7th grade up to the collegiate level and have a minor in Spanish. In Summer of 2010 I traveled/studied in Spain. In Summer of 2011, I studied Business Spanish in Costa Rica.
In term of experience working with children I have served as a summer camp counselor for a couple of years and was responsible for creating a fun environment, participating in recreational activities, facilitating events, and was specifically responsible for caring for 8-10 girls between the ages of 6-10. So I am used to working with a variety of individuals.
