As an artist, I am adept at looking for new solutions for a challenging concept. As a teacher, I am skilled at trying varying approaches to establish the bridge from one place of knowledge to the next. Learners proceed at differing paces, sometimes in a direct line, sometimes in a curve, often in a zig-zagging path. It is the teacher's job to work with that process and share tools toward a natural learning.
I have experience with all ages, skills, abilities and subjects as a requested substitute teacher. I teach workshops and private lessons in all facets of art: drawing, painting, sculpting, bookmaking, mixed media and much more. With a Masters in Interdisciplinary Art, I believe all learning crosses boundaries, math seeping into art, art influencing history, history influencing literature, and so on. Learning is not encapsulated.
I believe in the steps toward success that build pride in meeting a goal, when that goal is a real challenge or when that goal is an exciting joy. Successes build confidence and willingness to risk failure- failure which is necessary to learn.
I enjoy the opportunity of walking the learning path with students, and look forward to hearing from you.
