I graduated in 2011 from the University of Texas at Dallas with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematical Science and minors in Physics and Music. I am a 2006 National Merit Finalist, which enabled me to attend UTD on a full scholarship. My SAT score is a 2210, and my SAT II Math score is a 710. Classes I have taken include Calculus I & II, Differential Equations, Linear Algebra, Theoretical Concepts of Calculus, Multivariable Calculus, Abstract Algebra I & II, Probability, Math Analysis I & II, Complex Variables, Topology, Geometry, Computer Science I, Electronics, Physics I & II, Contemporary Physics, Theoretical Physics, Astronomy, Classical Mechanics, Electricity & Magnetism, Modern Physics, Thermodynamics.
Having tutored for over five years, I have worked with students in a wide range of ages, learning styles, and interest levels. I worked at the Math Lab at UTD for three years, tutoring everything from college algebra to calculus, as well as physics, linear algebra, and more advanced math topics. I have tutored numerous high school students in all levels of math and physics: regular, honors, and AP.
Working at UTD, I had the opportunity to observe many amazing tutors and learn what works and what doesn't work. Also, by teaching the same subjects to a lot of different students, I learned to adjust to each individual's learning style. So I don't get impatient if a student does not fully grasp a concept the first time; often they just need it to be explained a different way. Since several of my students take online classes, I have a lot of experience breaking a topic down and explaining each step to make sure they understand the process behind the solution.
If you are preparing for a standardized test such as the SAT, ACT, Accuplacer/TSI, or GRE, I can help you review the necessary math concepts and learn time-saving problem solving techniques. I also have experience in teaching homeschool students, either in conjunction with their online math class or from your choice of textbooks.
I offer in-home tutoring in the general area of Denton, Corinth, Highland Village, Flower Mound, and Argyle. If you live elsewhere, or prefer not to meet in your home, I would be happy to meet with your student at the Denton, Lewisville, or Flower Mound library or a Starbucks. Although I would love to tutor everyone who needs it, due to time constraints I do not travel outside of this area, such as to Frisco, Carrollton, or Southlake.
Whether you are struggling just to pass or need a little extra boost to achieve an A, I can’t wait to get started helping you or your student succeed. Please feel free to contact me for more information or to schedule lessons.
I look forward to hearing from you!
Very Patient and Helpful — Abigail has helped my daughter through Algebra and now Geometry. She is very patient and very helpful. She connects well with my daughter who is in internet school, so Abigail has to explain the concepts for the first time. It works very well and we could not do this without her. I am very impressed. ...
