All the knowledge I gained to excel in high school is knowledge I want to impart to you. Those accomplishments helped me out tremendously in the college admissions process, and I want to help you with the same. Thanks to my "total comprehension" studying model, I remember the material I studied incredibly well, and equally importantly can teach it in a way that is easy to understand.
As far as my teaching experience goes, I do have a rare ability to make material that seems complex and boring both simple to grasp and relevant to you. I believe that I can not only teach you the material in a way that you can remember it, but also inspire you to become a capable learner on your own.
My philosophy of teaching basically revolves around this: if you can understand the material, rote memorization can be kept to a minimum. For the memorization that is necessary, I develop all kinds of strategies to make it memorable. Many people do well on tests because they they have an excellent memory, or study content for hours (oftentimes forgetting it just days later). I do well on tests, because I make sure to understand the material backwards and forwards, inside and out, and that means I remember and can apply the information years later. That kind of understanding is what enables me to teach the material in a way that makes so much sense, that it in many cases eliminates memory work. That is how I learned the material, that is how I excelled in everything I put my mind to in high-school, and it is what I want to give you to help you succeed.
I applied my method to standardized testing. As a mere freshman in high school, I decided to take the AP World History exam without even taking an AP world history class. I applied my method to the test preparation material and earned a 5, something that many people who study all year cannot do. I believe that even people that are called "below-average" can outperform the majority of people if they simply learn how to learn. Average students become the kind of students that colleges beg for (they will literally take you to dinner at fancy restaurants and pay for huge amounts of your college education if you do well). I can teach you the techniques and study habits that will set you apart from the average student, and help you be the student you have always wanted to be. I am a National Merit Scholar, earned perfect scores in the reading and writing sections of the SAT, and a 780 math. I developed a study plan to get those scores, which got me into every college I applied to with generous scholarships. I have a tremendous gift for teaching, and am talented at teaching math from pre-algebra to Calculus in a way that almost anyone can understand. I have a passion for physics and biology, and tied for the highest score in my 300 person class on my first engineering chemistry test at Texas A&M.
In regard to English tutoring, I have a powerful ability with words, which I want to impart to you. I attended an intense high school in which I received instruction from talented PhDs and Doctoral students. I took three years of philosophy from a recognized expert, Sloan Lee. Ultimately I won the school's senior thesis program with a paper handling the delicate topic of evolutionary biology from a Christian perspective.
And for a little bit of extra information about me - I took piano lessons from grade school through high school, culminating my study with four years under Steinway Artist Steven Nielson. Today I write music, and I won a state championship in cross country,
I transferred from A&M to UTD, got married, and am now working on a degree in computer science. I am offering my services at a discounted rate now so that I can attract a lot of business.
