Hi! My name is Elizabeth. I am able to tutor all subject related to math and the sciences. I have honors Bachelor's degrees in Math (B.A.) and Biology (B.A.) from NYU, and I am currently getting my Ph.D. in Computational Biology, specifically studying lung cancer. While I am new to this website, I am not new to tutoring. I have held tutoring jobs tutoring math and the sciences during high school, college, and grad school, so I am very experienced! Hi! Elizabeth knows her stuff! She is so kind, patient, and works at the students pace. She ensures the student understands the concepts before she moves forward. She is an amazing tutor. I highly suggest her for statistics. She leaves the student with comprehensive notes and is an excellent team player. I can't give her enough kind words because she is simply the BEST!
My daughter was struggling with a unit in Chemistry. Elizabeth tutored her before her test and she got an A! Thank you Elizabeth!!
Elizabeth was very patient with me as it had been many years since I last took statistics. She is very knowledgeable and is a good teacher. Be ready to work!! She did a great job.
Elizabeth M. really helped me out with my statistics class. I made a B with her help! Thanks for all of your help Elizabeth M.
She's been a great tutor. She is very patient in the topic areas that I've needed a lot of help in.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
My degrees are in mathematics and biology, and I have taken probability and statistics courses in my undergrad. In graduate school, I am studying computational biology, which is the hybrid field between mathematics and biology. Specifically, my research revolves around using statistical and mathematical theory to write algorithms to analyze large biological datasets so I am very very well versed in the statistics that are used in biology.
I have taken, and received an A in ordinary differential equations. I have also taken many other mathematical modeling courses that use differential equations.
I have taken and received an A in genetics at the graduate and undergraduate level. Additionally, I am enrolled in a Ph.D. program in biomedical sciences and much of the research I do revolves around cancer genetics. I also have a degree in mathematics, so I am able to deal with the probability theory involved in genetics.
I have two honors degrees in math and biology from NYU, so I am well prepared for the math portion of the TAKs. I scored a composite score of 33/36 on the ACT, 1500/1600 on the SAT, and 1530/1600 on the GRE, so I am very prepared to tutor both study skills and the subject material on the TAKs exam
