I have recently graduated from the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design (MIAD) with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Drawing and another Bachelor of Fine Arts in Printmaking. I graduated with honors – maintaining a place on the Dean’s List every semester. Throughout my studies, I was involved in numerous group critiques and administrative focus groups regarding the advancement of the college. For almost three years, I was an Admission's Assistant, representing the school with great pride, helping to recruit and educate prospective students, creating special bonds and dedicated, personable relationships. I also aided my superiors in establishing a learning and collaborative creative environment.
Prior to MIAD, I worked as an assistant art teacher at the Lakewood Arts Academy in Dallas, Texas for several years. I worked with kids from ages 4 to 15. Some classes were comprised of copious creative activities, and others solely revolved around preparing the students for a local private art high school (Booker T. Washington HSPVA -- Arts Magnet), where I previously attended.
After college, I stayed in Milwaukee a while longer and co-ran a gallery space called American Fantasy Classics. As a team of four, we would offer our special skill-sets and resources to help push the artists we showed to use techniques with which they aren't familiar, or translate ideas into a medium they wouldn't usually use. Anyway, the gallery was in a five-alarm fire last year. Since then, I have moved to Dallas due to family obligations.
Over the past 3 years, my employment has consisted of working as a freelance Art Director, Prop Master, Set Builder/Designer, and general art department for commercials, feature films, and music videos. I have also been very interested in nutrition and health, attending Bikram yoga classes every day, and constantly reading about, as well as sampling various kinds of diets.
I now more than ever want to share my knowledge of art, health, the English language, simple math, and even practice sports with whomever wants to learn! For each individual student, I plan to thoroughly prepare special lessons and design them accordingly, case by case. I cannot wait!
