Elementary (K-6th)

I am a certified (grades 1-6) Bilingual/ESL/General Education teacher. I currently teach reading/language arts in 5th grade. I have over 14 years of teaching experience incorporating hands-on and creative methods for student learning.

ESL/ESOL

I have served English learners at all grade levels and have tutored college students acquiring Spanish as a second language. I believe in a whole language approach which focuses on the four domains: listening, speaking, reading and writing. Having been fortunate enough to receive as well as give years of training in language acquisition and serve as a bilingual teacher, I have many strategies to offer which will not only accelerate the learning of a language, but enhance reading, writing and study skills as well. I look forward to meeting you and assisting you in achieving your language goals.

Reading

I have taught reading for over thirteen years at all grade levels. I am currently a fourth grade teacher. I believe in creating a love of reading through a whole language approach, focusing on all four language domains: listening, speaking, reading and writing. I have worked in the classroom as well as in the central office of my school district where I trained teachers and principals. I am kind, loving, patient and creative. I would love to help you!

Spanish

I have been a Spanish learner since childhood, and I still learn more every day. I currently work as a fourth grade Bilingual teacher. I have served English learners at all grade levels and have tutored college Spanish students. I believe in a whole language approach, which focuses on the four domains: listening, speaking, reading and writing. Having been fortunate enough to receive as well as give years of training in language acquisition, I have many strategies to offer, which will not only accelerate the learning of a language, but enhance reading, writing and study skills as well. I look forward to meeting you and assisting you in achieving your language goals.

Writing

I have been a fourth grade writing teacher for a few years. I also served as a trainer of fourth grade writing teachers in my school district. I find teaching writing to children extremely rewarding. Writing is such a vital part of the future our children are heading towards. I myself am an aspiring writer and would love to share what I have learned throughout the years (both for creativity and test prep alike) with you or your child.

Approved Subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet certified in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
