Greetings,
My name is Michael L., and I look forward to meeting your tutoring needs!
I graduated summa cum laude with honors in the liberal arts from Southern Methodist University with a B.A. in Philosophy, and a minor in History. I received departmental distinction for exemplary written work in philosophy, and while I am passionate about this particular subject area, I received Emerging Scholar Awards in Biology and Speech as well. My interests are multifaceted, translating to a wide range of subjects with which I can comfortably and effectively assist. Among my other areas of tutoring focus are technical (e.g., argumentative, expository) writing, English Grammar and Writing Mechanics, as well as European and American History.
While enrolled at SMU, I undertook intermediate level courses in German, a niche interest of mine. For those students who also have an interest in learning German, I am more than willing to assist in speaking, grammar and reading comprehension.
My approach to tutoring is very hands-on and somewhat conversational. I am not one for the drone-on, lecture style of tutoring. In my experience, a fluid, give-take exchange of ideas between the student and myself allows me to become familiar with each student's unique learning abilities, and to quickly develop strategies to meet that student's unique learning needs.
I look forward to meeting with you and hope to be of help in any way I can!
Michael
