I am a recent graduate of the University of Redlands with a double BA in Sustainable Agriculture and Latin American Studies. I am most capable and comfortable tutoring in the biological or environmental sciences and beginning to intermediate Spanish. This doesn't mean that I'm not qualified or willing to tutor in history, English language or literature, or math (algebra or geometry only), it just means that I'm most comfortable with the areas my degree is in.
During my educational career I've found that I learn best through visual methods - drawing diagrams, writing information down for myself, and vocabulary flash cards - and by teaching others. Therefore, when I am tutoring I like to teach in a similar way. Students of mine can expect to draw diagrams and flowcharts, make and be quizzed with flash cards, and explain to me in their own words what they are learning. However, I realize that not everyone learns this way, and if you tell me how you or your student learns best I can adapt to that, or if you don't know we can work together to figure out the best method for you. I look forward to working with you.
