I bring a wealth of education and experience to the students I tutor. I hold a B.A. in English Literature from Maryville College where I was awarded prizes for outstanding research and overall academic achievement. I also hold an M.Div. and M.A. in Religion from Wake Forest University. I scored in the 92nd percentile on the GRE writing section, and in the 90th percentile on the verbal section. I have worked and traveled extensively throughout India and the African continent. Over the last eight years, I have served as a pastor and taught classes in theology at Barton College.
As a tutor I aim to teach students to master the subjects they study by providing the technical knowledge I possess, and by encouraging them to work hard. Excellence is a habit, and any student who commits herself to practice can excel. In my experience, the greatest enemy of students is the practice of study. Many students struggle to create the healthy study habits that create a foundation for success. I have a particular strength for creating such plans and habits, and those plans will enable your student to build on the ideas and skills that we practice during our tutoring session.
A little about my personal life. My wife is a graduate of the Southern Methodist University where she received a Masters of Sacred Music. She currently works as a choir director and organist for the Presbyterian Church. We have one dog, Bo, and our first child will be born in June. I compete in half-ironman triathlons, and my next race is in April.
