I am an Adobe Certified Expert (ACE) in Lightroom v4 & v5 and I have been using Lightroom since v (~ 5 yrs of experience). I have taught Lightroom as a Master-level photographer with the Plano Photography Club and for the City of Plano. I exclusively shoot RAW with my Canon 5Dm2 and use Lightroom for 90+ % of my editing. I believe ANYONE with a DSLR (or even compact capable of shooting RAW) wishing to maximize his or her photographic potential should be shooting RAW and using Lightroom. In fact I would be very reluctant to even show my photos to anyone before editing them in Lightroom – remarkable just how much one can improve an image in just a minute or two.
While my background & professional career has primarily been as an engineer in the wireless, cellular and networking industries, I have a keen eye for aesthetic quality, a passionate interest and serious intent in my photography. Applying my creative technical design expertise (BSEE, MSEE) & business/marketing acumen (MBA) to the creative and artistic art form of photography is a challenge I thoroughly enjoy. Having a broad background in hardware and computers has not only helped me to develop an expertise with photographic equipment, but also with photo editing software and applications such as Adobe’s Photoshop & Photoshop Lightroom (I'm a Adobe Certified Expert (ACE) for both Lightroom v4 & v5).
I compete at a Master’s level at local camera clubs and in a variety of competitions which has improved my competence and expertise in lighting, composition, and most all aspects of both studio and location photography. I have been fortunate to win Blue ribbons in all 3 years I’ve entered the Texas State Fair Photography contest (+ 3 other ribbons). I have also enjoyed judging numerous competitions and I have trained with the Photographic Society of America (PSA).
Developing and presenting technical wireless/cellular standards and specifications to numerous global standardization organizations and industry for over a decade, I’ve gained an acute awareness for detail as well as effective written and oral communication/presentation skills. Leveraging these skills, I’ve tutored photography through WzyAnt, and developed and taught classes in Color and Light, Photography and Adobe Lightroom in local camera club training classes and for the City of Plano.
As a staff photographer for the Dallas Wind Symphony (DWS) since 2009, many of my concert photos have been published or otherwise used by DWS for their website, Facebook page and other publications. I’ve had work published (print) by the Southwest Celtic Music Association, the Dallas Morning News and the Army’s West Point Band, and used by the Dallas Opera, Theater Jones and others. I’ve enjoyed photographing dozens of models from Model Mayhem, Core Talent, Dawn Rochelle and other sources as well as being a photographic contributor to Victory Lane and Texas Lowriding Magazines.
