I have been a tutor in mathematics to college students since 2005. I began tutoring my peers while I was earning my undergraduate degree at University of North Texas. I won an award as most outstanding student worker while tutoring students in College Algebra and World Literature. After I graduated, I have continued tutoring high school students in Algebra, Geometry, Algebra II, and SAT/ACT/GRE preparation since 2008. I have gained the knowledge to effectively communicate the concepts as well as check for understanding. I have the patience to explain ideas in multiple ways to accommodate different learning styles. With this individualized method of instruction, I am thorough in conveying important concepts for the student's success.
I am an artist. I have my studio in Dallas, but I happen to be good at math. Most importantly, I have the communication skills to convey mathematical concepts to my students. Recently, I have graduated with a Master of Fine Arts in Art from University of Dallas. While in graduate school, I have been tutoring part time. In 2011, I was the graduate assistant in Art History, I contributed several lectures to the Contemporary Art history class at University of Dallas. Also, I researched and prepared images to present and lead class discussions based on reading assignments. I held study sessions outside of class to provide a learning environment based on students explaining ideas. In 2010, I was also the graduate assistant in Painting. I actively discussed students' work and demonstrated proper safety with tools. I provided advice and input to beginning, intermediate, and advanced students in Painting.
Also, from 2005 to 2010, I was a dance Instructor at Southlake Dance Academy. I organized curriculum and choreographed dance routines for public performances. I successfully communicated to classes of 15-20 students ranging in ages from 5 to adult. I was creative, enthusiastic, and compassionate while teaching students to be dancers.
