I'm currently enrolled in the Texas Teachers' alternative teacher certification program, with the goal of becoming a high school special education teacher. State subject matter tests that I have passed so far (these are areas in which I'm classified as "Highly Qualified") include: history 8-12, social studies 8-12, life science 8-12, and special education EC-12. I also plan to take the mathematics 8-12 test.
My education includes a BS in biochemistry and an MS in chemical engineering, both from Michigan State University, an MLS in library science from the University of Michigan, and a Graduate Academic Certificate in Digital Content Management from the University of North Texas.
I have two years' tutoring experience with both high school and college students through the Upward Bound and TRiO programs at Cedar Valley College, two years' teaching science at a small, private, non-profit high school for at-risk students, and four years' conducting adult training programs for library staff.
