First and foremost, I am a teacher that always finds a way to connect to each individual's way of thinking, always striving to find the words of explanation that make a concept click for them. I have experience as a statistics lecturer at Ohio State, and also as a working statistician in the industry. I love helping people "see the light" so that statistics is understandable and not intimidating. I consistently receive positive feedback on my ability to teach statistics.

I am a statistical tutor and consultant to Executive MBA and PhD candidates with a successful track record of bridging the gap to a better grasp of statistical theory and how it is applied, walking clients through the necessary steps to complete their projects through their own understanding.

Microsoft Excel

I have been actively using Excel in the business world and also sometimes for statistical applications and data management for over 10 years. I routinely use the many formulas available in Excel, and also have several years' experience doing VBA programming to do more complex process automation in Excel.

Statistics

After going through a rigorous theoretical master's program at Ohio State, and teaching as a statistics lecturer there, I worked in the industry for Nielsen Media Research and Abbott Laboratories. In the past few years, I have been tutoring and consulting in statistics for executive MBA professionals who have gone back to school to raise their game to the next level. I am also currently tutoring/consulting as a statistician for two PhD candidates in the social sciences and medical field.

SPSS

I have utilized SPSS in my consulting work with candidate PhD clients preparing for and writing their dissertation. We have utilized the many functions of SPSS, from setting up variables to setting up the correct analyses and interpreting the output to make correct conclusions, aided by my strong theoretical background in statistics.

Discrete Math

I studied Discrete Math in college in my Discrete Math and Combinatorics classes, prior to obtaining my B.A. in Mathematics with a 3.93 GPA. I have also actively used discrete math concepts in my graduate studies in statistics and in the past 10 years of practical application of statistics and probability.

Drums

My father was a PhD classical music composer and composition professor. I began drumming at age 10 and played drums in symphonic and big band throughout high school and college. In 1999 I moved to Los Angeles to play drums professionally. In 2005, I toured with grammy-winning guitarist/producer Pete Anderson of Dwight Yoakam fame. I play regularly as a jazz/rock/funk drummer in the Dallas area. My specialty is in making simple grooves feel danceable to the audience.

SAS

I have been programming in SAS for the past 5 years with Abbott Laboratories, incorporating extensive SAS macro automation for managing/manipulating large and complex datasets, and for creating formatted tables, listings and graphs for FDA submissions.

Biostatistics

In addition to my categorical data analysis classes at Ohio State University, in my past 5 years at Abbott, I applied biostatistics techniques in various projects both internally and as well as for submission documents to the FDA.
