After having been a full-time employee with the Lewisville Independent School District (2004-2011), I returned to substitute teaching employment with them this past school year, while pursuing my Education Specialist degree online with Liberty University. During my earliest experience with the school district, I worked as a Content Mastery instructor, and one could say with the primarily one-on-one student relationship in that environment, it was my first experience tutoring students. During my time with CM, and later, as an Inclusion teacher, my primary subject focus was 7th grade English/Language Arts. However, I hold an all-level certificate with the State Board for Educator Certification, which has allowed me to also work with students in other subjects.
When my middle school students and I were working together, my ultimate desire was for them to achieve success in their classroom. My approach in working with them to complete their course work or review for an exam is the same type of approach that I know will be most effective with my WyzAnt students. I believe in empowering students to achieve their own success, with as many tools that they need to reach that goal. Student confidence is one of the biggest steps to student achievement.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am currently a Master's level student at Dallas Baptist University in Texas, where I am in pursuit of my degree in Christian Ministry. To be qualified for this opportunity, I have taken undergraduate classes in Old/New Testament, as well as both undergrad and graduate classes in Biblical Hermeneutics. In my Master's classes, I have covered classes in Systematic Theology, Biblical Interpretation (how to study the Bible), and other subject-specific areas.
