Hi, my name is Rebecca and I have worked as a tutor specializing primarily in study and organizational skills assessment and remediation for the student diagnosed with ADHD or related learning differences. My typical student struggles with daily homework completion and procrastination, time management, organization and study skills as well as inferential reading comprehension and analytical writing skills.
I earned a Masters degree in early childhood and communication disorders and have worked as a tutor for the past 17 years. I also have specialized training and clinical experience in ADHD Coaching for both adolescent and adult populations. I have three boys of my own and completely understand the challenges of the homework process as well as difficulties with short term and long term assignments and projects. I have a very strong fine arts background and often evaluate the ergonomics and functionality of a students' work space, binder organization, storage and home filing solutions.
I have worked with hundreds of students in various capacities; as a classroom teacher for middle school aged students; private one on one tutoring, clinical director at an ADHD Center, designer of personal spaces for individuals with special needs. I bring a unique approach to tutoring as sessions often entail more than just academics. My training and experience in education, academics, teaching and the fine arts allows a one of a kind perspective in assisting students while considering overall developmental ability, diagnosed learning and attention disorders, individual interest and ultimate goals.
