As a recent graduate of MIT, I know what it takes to be competitive and relevant in the educational world. It takes discipline, determination and hard work. But education isn't all work and no play. Many people go through school thinking of it as a chore, not realizing how fun and exciting it can be.

My approach is simple: make it fun and make it effective! I will work with you to make your journey to whatever destination, whether it be acceptance into a college or a higher grade in a class, one that is enjoyable and informative. We will set checkpoints and work hard together to meet our goals. But the pace will be entirely your own!

My area of expertise is Biology and Chemistry, but I can easily teach any of the other math or science subjects. I also taught AP English Literature for three years as an undergraduate at MIT, so I am very comfortable with teaching English as well.

So whether you want to emphasize a specific subject or work through your entire course schedule, I am your gal!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Genetics

Outside of classes I took, I have a lot of experience with genetics in the practical setting of the laboratory. My research at SMU focused on genetic pathways. On one of my projects I had to construct a very specific fly strain, a fly strain that didn't already exist. Through the use of classic genetics and selection, I was able to design the fly. The project required that I have a firm grasp of the subject matter. My unique practical knowledge of the subject, as well as the academic knowledge I gained from leaders in the genetics field at MIT, will be a valuable asset to you in your academic future!

Study Skills

Studying at MIT taught me the value of being organized. It was not enough to do the problems in the book or to attend lecture. Constant study of the subject was required to excel in my classes, and I employed several study habits that allowed me to thrive in that environment. Since then I have held a number of positions that have required me to be an expert in a subject. Whether you are in elementary, secondary or college, my knowledge and skill set will be a valuable asset in preparing you for a successful and productive academic career!
