I am a dedicated tutor with proven success in test preparation for the ACT, SAT, PSAT, ISEE tests and more. For the past couple of years, I have taught all subjects of the ACT test. On average, my students' overall ACT test scores have improved 4-9 points, and I have seen even higher improvements on individual sections of the test. I have also taught SAT, PSAT and ISEE content and strategy. I have the tools to help students achieve their goal scores.

In addition to preparing students for important tests, I enjoy tutoring in English and Government. I have a BA in Political Science from the University of Texas and love helping students become better speakers, writers and thinkers.

My main strength as a tutor is my ability to quickly assess a student's learning style and adjust how I deliver instruction to suit his/her needs. The most rewarding aspect of tutoring is witnessing my students' growth, helping them build their skills and confidence and knowing I played a role in their success.

SAT Reading

Questions on the SAT Reading section are designed so that students do not need a deep understanding of the content; rather, they need to know how to find information and think critically about a section of the reading at a time. The approach is often very different from what students are used to, so my knowledge of the strategy makes this section much easier to manage and less overwhelming.

ACT Reading

Success in ACT Reading requires knowledge about how the test is written and practice of a successful strategy. Many students approach this section of the test as they would a reading assignment in school; however, success in this section requires a very specific approach. My knowledge of the test and strategies that work have helped many students manage this section with confidence.

ACT English

English is my favorite section of the ACT test and one of my tutoring specialties. Because I know which rules are tested, I am able to focus on those rules and make this section of the test much more manageable for students.

ACT Science

Success in ACT Science has little to do with prior knowledge of science. In fact, this section focuses on a student's ability to analyze data quickly. Because there is very limited time on this section, implementing strategies that work are paramount to a student's success.

ISEE

Preparation for the ISEE test is similar in many ways to preparation for the SAT test, which is my expertise. In addition to understanding subject content, learning test strategies is key to a student's success. For example, identifying question types in the reading section helps students know where and how to look for answers in the passage and save time. Since strategy is critical to a student's success on the ISEE, those who receive tutoring for specific strategies are at an advantage.

TAKS

I thoroughly enjoy preparing students for important tests, whether it be TAKS or college entry exams such as the SAT and ACT.
