English grammar, Literature, and Theatre for all ages

Words are everything. They are how we communicate with the world. They are my passion.

For the last 10 years I have taught college level English writing and literature; I have been involved with various theatre productions around the world; and I have instructed children of all ages in writing and drama from Dallas to Hong Kong. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, minor in English. Then I went on to receive my MA in British Literature while working in the ESL department at Andrew's University. And finally, I received my MA in Theatre from Texas Woman's University. Currently I am teaching various levels of English and drama classes and I am the Managing Director of a small Dallas based theatre company.

For a year I taught English through Drama in Hong Kong with the idea that if a student is having fun, they will learn more quickly. I have adapted that concept and strive to create a safe, playful environment where a student feels confident enough to take risks in their learning so they are able to enjoy the entire process.

I have a passion for growth and learning. When it comes to me, this passion shines through in my love for theatre, literature, writing, psychology, and education.

Writing

The sole purpose of writing is for communication. That is my focus and aim in any writing instruction that I provide. It is an art form, and sometimes challenging task, to adequately place the thought in our head on to that page. I strive to help in any way I can to foster that end.

English

I have taught various levels of English literature and writing, from teaching third grade after-school programs to college level American, British, and World Literature classes.
Also, I am a native English speaker.

Literature

I love stories so I earned my Master's Degree in Literature, with an emphasis in British Literature. However, I love all genres of Literature. Since I have been teaching American Literature in college, I have developed a deeper connection to our history of writing and storytelling.

Theatre

I graduated with a Master's Degree in Theatre from Texas Woman's University in 2006. I have performed on stage, directed productions, or run the technical aspects of shows both locally and internationally - Dallas, Fort Worth, Austin, New York, Portland, Phoenix, New Orleans, Dublin, Hong Kong, and Prague.

I have also taught theatre to children of all ages.

ESL/ESOL

I worked and taught in an ESL department during Graduate school, I have taught college level developmental writing classes for students who are non-native English speakers, and I taught English for a year in Hong Kong to non-native English speakers. I have also taken various linguistics classes on breaking down the English language and I am a native English speaker.
