After graduating first in my private high school class in Georgia, I attended Rollins College on an academic scholarship and majored in physics and was chosen valedictorian by the Dean of Students. In addition to multiple leadership positions I held on campus, I played Division II baseball and co-captained a World Series appearance team. I also served as a peer writing consultant as an undergraduate and graduate student as well as community volunteer.
I continued on as a graduate assistant baseball coach while I completed my MBA and began an internship in business that soon after became my first 8-year career in the corporate world where I became a surety bond specialist. After 3 mergers, I decided to start my own business which I did part-time and then later transitioned to a full-time, 10-year successful venture in financial services educating mostly adults and families from all socioeconomic situations in the fundamental principles of debt elimination, asset accumulation, management, and protection, and income protection.
I then served a year as a volunteer teaching English with a non-profit at Peking University in Beijing, China. I was then recruited in 2010 by Teach for America to teach physics in DISD where I am currently working.
Far beyond bringing academic expertise or content knowledge, I will bring a level of leadership and life experience to any tutoring engagement that will bring invaluable experience to the subject matter and the skills being taught.
